Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At Thorntons, we promote a culture where we embrace and celebrate the differences of our Team Members by creating a positive space of acceptance, engagement, and innovation. No matter what you look like, where you are from, or who you love.
Our Team Members work hard, have fun, and care about our Guests. Our Guests often refer to “My Thorntons” when referring to their favorite local Thorntons. We strive daily to be our Guests’ favorite place to stop when they are on-the-go.

You Belong Here!

At Thorntons, we promote a culture where we embrace and celebrate the differences of our Team Members by creating a positive space of acceptance, engagement, and innovation. No matter what you look like, where you are from, or who you love – We Welcome You!

We are in the business of developing diverse talent into leaders to ensure our Team Members have a space to grow and be their authentic self, and we want all levels of leadership to eventually be representative of the diversity throughout Thorntons and our communities. Our commitment is to invest in our Team Members by providing access to the tools and skills necessary to progress their careers.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion objectives must remain at the center of what we do as we continuously cultivate a sense of belonging, representation, and pride for our Team Members, Guests, and the Communities that we serve. We will assess our objectives annually to ensure alignment, progression, and achievement.

Partnership with Louisville Urban League

In April 2021, Thorntons opened its first-of-its-kind non-profit community store in partnership with the Louisville Urban League. Located on the corner of 30th and West Jefferson Streets, this community store will be open 7 days a week, offering hot fresh foods, beverages, snacks, and fill-in grocery items to our Guests who reside in the community. This store is also unique in that it is our first store to feature products sourced from local, minority-owned businesses, like Georgia’s Sweet Potato Pie Company in Louisville, KY. President and CEO Simon Richards noted that the new community store provides Thorntons with a sustainable way to give back and invest in the neighborhood. We are proud to be allowed to bring employment and equity to the communities of our Guests and the Louisville Community.
