Giving Back

At Thorntons, we have a passion for giving back to the communities where our Guests and Team Members live and work. We are focused on ending childhood hunger through donations, surplus food donations, fundraising efforts, and our Round Up program.

Thorntons limits its assistance to organizations that the company selects and solicits based upon our philanthropic guidelines. Organizations must have been granted 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service and requests or specific program support are preferable to requests for general operating funds. Special consideration is given to organizations with which Thorntons Team Members are actively involved, provided the organization falls within the general focus areas above.

If you believe your organization meets these criteria, please complete our giving back form for consideration.

Giving Back Hunger Relief

No child should grow up hungry in America, but one in six children struggles with hunger. Thorntons local store marketing efforts will focus on ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day in the communities where our Team Members and Guests live and work.

In honor of the opening of the 200th Thorntons store opening in 2020, Thorntons donated $200,000 to help feed the hungry in our communities. Funds from the sale of a limited edition 24 oz. coffee have been distributed among 22 local hunger relief organizations. In addition to our regular donation of surplus foods, Thorntons continues to engage Guests in raising funds for hunger relief through a new “Round Up” program. At the register, Guests are invited to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar for a donation to the store’s local hunger relief partner. As with the coffee proceeds, all funds raised in a community will stay in that community.
